Camp Agawam Arrow of Light Weekend

Boy Scout Troop 482 Camped along with Cub Scout Pack 482 during their Arrow of Light Weekend 5-20 thru 5-22 2011 at Camp Agawam located along Slippery Rock Creek in Lawrence County, PA. This turned out to be a great weekend with beautiful weather and memorable events. Saturday morning the Troop and Pack worked on service projects for the camp. Troop 482 stained the exterior siding of a new latrine while Pack 482 cleared and cleaned up some of the camp's hiking trails.

Saturday afternoon the boys enjoyed fishing in the lake, hiking, and a game of capture the flag. The Boy Scouts prepared a Dutch Oven beef stew over the campfire coals which was enjoyed by all for Saturday supper. After supper the highlight of the weekend was the Arrow of Light Ceremony where one Webelos Scout crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. The ceremony was held in Camp Agawam’s beautiful amphitheater which is framed on three sides by massive natural rock formations with the Slippery Rock Creek flowing nearby. After the Cubs called to Akela, a flaming arrow flew from the trees to ignite the bonfire for the ceremony. What a memorable experience! Congratulations to our newest Boy Scout and Welcome to the Troop!

Troop 482 - 2011 Class B Shirt Design is Ready for Review!

It's been a few years since the troop ordered our first Class B Shirts and they are getting small and tired. A new Class B Shirt design is ready for your review! Take a look at the four color schemes and let's get a majority vote on which color scheme is most popular. Once we agree on a color scheme we can get an order placed with quantities and sizes. Send me an email or post a comment!   Thanks! Mr. T

Camp Seph Mack Campout

Troop 482 arrived at Camp Seph Mack Friday evening set up camp and had a nice evening campfire. The night was a bit on the cool side but we were prepared and slept well. Saturday was a beautiful day which included kayaking on Yellow Creek Lake, a little fishing and a little hiking. The Iron Chef Cook-off was a huge success and the boys did a great job being inventive and we all shared two great entrees and desserts! We had one team win for the entree and the other team for the dessert.

We awoke Sunday morning to some rain, but as I was correctly reminded, we were fortunate that the rain stopped long enough for us to break camp and get on the road. Our new equipment trailer made the trip much easier and more effective. Food and trash can be easily stored out of reach of the critters during the night, not to mention the new found ability to transport almost everything and anything we need!
A beautiful day for kayaking on Yellow Creek Lake!
Mr. B shows us how skipping rocks is done!
